Cacao Peanut Butter Cups: Are you the type who loves peanut butter but at the same time craves chocolate? To add to that, do you also prefer a vegan dessert? This one is definitely for you, a taste of a healthy dessert with your favorite peanut butter and chocolate, all in one cup… Cacao Peanut Butter Cup.

For the Chocolate (2 sets)

  • 2 x 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 2 x 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 x 40g Tribal Moon Ceremonial Grade Cacao

For the Peanut Butter Filling

  • 1 cup natural peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tbsp + 2 tsp nutritional yeast

  1. Gently mix the first set of melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and Tribal Moon Ceremonial Grade Cacao in a bowl until it is smooth and runny.
  2. Spoon 1/2-1 tbsp into the bottom of a lined muffin tin. Start with about 1/2 tbsp in each, then divide the rest between the 12 if there is extra. You can make 12 large cups or 24 mini cups (start with 1 tsp per cup if doing mini cups). You can just use paper or silicone cupcake liners on a plate if you don’t have a muffin tin.
  3. Place the entire tray in the freezer for 10 minutes.
  4. Mix the ingredients for the peanut butter filling in a bowl. Mix well until it is smooth and the nutritional yeast is mixed in completely.
  5. Get the chocolate cups from the freezer and spoon the peanut butter filling into each cup. It should be about 1 heaping tbsp/cup. Spread so the filling is somewhat flat.
  6. Place in the freezer for about 20 minutes to firm.
  7. Mix the second set of chocolate ingredients. Once the peanut butter cups are ready, spoon the mixed chocolate ingredients over top of each cup. Tilt the tray left-right-back and forth to help evenly spread the chocolate.
  8. Freeze for about 10 minutes or until the chocolate is set. Enjoy and share the magic!

Depending on what type of recipe you are creating, we always try and prepare cacao in the easiest possible way with the greatest amount of care. So here are a few helpful hints on how to do that.

1.)If you need the cacao in more of a powder-type form for your recipe, just blitz larger chunks of Tribal Moon Cacao in a Nutri-Bullet, Thermomix, or Food Processor for 10 seconds. Then it is all ready to go without needing to chop or grate it. Easy 🙂

2.)If you need to turn your cacao into more of a liquid type of consistency, simply pour boiling hot water into a pot with the cacao and stir over heat until it melts. NEVER LEAVE THE CACAO as it begins to get hot. If it starts to steam, that is as hot as you want to get. Try to NEVER RAISE the temperature of the cacao above 87 Degrees Celsius as it will lose some of its medicinal qualities.

Have fun 🙂
